In both these images, an initial method of photography and collage has been used to create the image.
Print methods Etching , aquatint and Lino reduction.
Etching - the use of hard wax and acid to create a burr on a zinc/copper plate , to create the lines to which the ink sits in and is subsequently printed on damp paper.
Aquatint , is a fine parafin powder dusted on the already etched plate , to which layers of stop out varnish and seconds submerged in acid, to create the shading once the final plate is inked and printed.
Lino Reduction ,the material is lino , and each layer is carved and inked to create the final image , some images can have one or two colours , others can be over 20 , although with each layer the lino will start to wear.
